PRAY FOR FELLOW BELIEVERS (2)

“I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints; That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus” – Philemon 1:4-6

LIGHT FOR NOW: The need for knowledge for a believer after salvation cannot be overemphasized.

The believer in the place of prayer includes other believers in his prayers; hence, he prays for fellow believers. Paul’s prayers in our above key text were a knowledge based prayer. He was praying for believers to come to the knowledge of who they are in Christ, what they have in Christ, and what Christ can do through them. That’s why the epistles teach that after salvation, what the believer needs the most is to grow in the knowledge of God’s word. Apostle Peter in 1Peter 2:2 has this to say “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”. In 2Peter 3:18, he elucidates further “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever, Amen”. The growth is in the knowledge of our salvation, and we see this consistently in Paul’s prayer for the churches.

Ephesians 1:16-22 “Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; that the God our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, which he wrought in Christ, when  he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: and hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all”. The above prayer again is fixated on knowledge. Hence, we don’t cease to pray for fellow believers that they come to knowledge. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Keep praying for fellow believers.

CONFESSION: I declare that I am prayer passionate and prayer sensitive now more than ever, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: If the Christian life is a car, knowledge is the fuel that will drive the car.
