“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” – Psalm 91:1
LIGHT FOR NOW: You are eternally in the secret (place) because you are in Christ.
The meaning of the English word, salvation which in the Greek is “soteria” is the word safety. In salvation, there is safety, security and protection. You are not just saved in Christ, you are saved, preserved, secured and protected in Christ from any form of harm at all. The Psalm of David majorly was about Jesus which means they were about us the believers by identification. Hence, David’s Psalm were prophetic utterance concerning God’s plan in Christ where the believer in him is found. So words spoken concerning Jesus relates to the believer. Psalm 91 relates to Christ and us in him. When David was saying “secret place”, he had no place in particular. Hence, the word “secret” here is the word “sether” in Hebrew. This word is used for two things in the Old Testament.
- “Sether” is used for backbiting; to say something behind someone; what you don’t want another to hear and see.
- It is also used for protection; a place of preservation from any form of harm.
So the word “sether” is a place of hiding, a place where the person hid will not be seen. When “sether” is spoken of, the two people will know the place; it’s not just one person. Therefore, it can be a place of two people meeting, of where somebody hides another. When he says, “the secret place of the Most High”, it makes a lot of sense now. It is a place of protection; to keep away from. It is not a particular place or geographical location. The word “place” is considered a bad translation having seen the word “secret”. It is should be better read as “He that dwells in the secret…” or “He that dwells in the hiding or protection of the Most High”. It has nothing to do with a particular place; it’s the fact that the person is shielded. At new birth, your life was hid in Christ in God. Christ became your secret (place) when you came into him. You are eternally secured, preserved and protected because you are in Christ. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Your new life is hid in Christ in God.
PRAYER: Because I am in Christ, I don’t go to the secret; I am there now. He hid me at new birth; therefore, I declare that I am eternally secured in Christ, in Jesus name – Amen
QUOTE: In Christ is your safety zone.
