THE SCRIPTURE TESTIFIES ABOUT CHRIST

“Then he said unto them, O fools and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scripture, the things concerning himself” – Luke 24:25-27

LIGHT FOR NOW: Scriptures must be read in the light of Christ.

Jesus in verse 26 of the above text summed up all the prophets spoke concerning him in two words:

  • The suffering of Christ
  • The glory that should follow

The use of the word “all” must be read in context. It does not mean everything, that is things in general and thus should not be given an omnibus application. That word “all” as used in the above account (verse 26) was translated from the Greek word “pas”, which could be better understood as all these (things specific). Thus, the word “all” should always be read in context. So, all that the prophets have spoken as seen in verse 25 of the main text is the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow as explained in verse 26. This, in the utterances of the prophets, their focus was what God will do in Christ by His suffering and glory that should follow. This is what the prophets enquired about in 1Peter 1:10. Their enquiry led to the testimony of the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.

Can we safely say or term the suffering of Christ and the glory that should follow as salvation? The answer is yes. The prophet’s enquiry was salvation and salvation is what Christ has done by his suffering and the glory that has followed. The central theme in the utterances of prophets is salvation in Christ Jesus. Glory!

INSTRUCTION: Christ is the focal point of the scriptures, acknowledge this.

CONFESSION:  Father, I decree and declare that whenever I read your word, I will see you and only you, in Jesus Name, Amen.

QUOTE: Jesus is not a messenger in the bible; he is the message of the bible.
