“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit” – Romans 8:1
LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ was sent as a propitiation for the sin of mankind.
Sin, which was transmitted into the spirit of man through the sin of the first man, Adam, was canceled by the redemptive act of Christ. Men suffered the effect of sin due to the consequence of Adam’s act of falling from grace and from that act, death came into the world to disrupt God’s plan for mankind, as shown in Romans 5:12-14.
We can see that the consequence of Adam’s act was felt even upon they who didn’t sin! This action was what brought death (in both physical and spiritual) upon man. Adam’s sin was of disobedience and since he was the man by which all human race was begotten, every resemblance of sin in human acts was equated in same level as that of Adam, and was subject to face same consequence.
To cancel the effect of sin, a price had to be paid as the Scripture had said in Romans 6:23a that “the wages of sin is death…” This price was to be paid in order to erase the consequence of Adam’s sin upon man. This was the law as shown in multiple instances of the Old Testament scripture as man suffered for the consequence of sin committed. Man needed a redeemer from this sentence. God saw man’s helplessness and out of His love sent a Savior to man.
The Scripture in Romans 5:8 says, “God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. The action of Christ dying for our sin diverted the punishment of sin from man to himself. The act of Christ became a propitiation (wrath absorbing substitute) for our sins, as shown in 1st John 4:10. It is important to note that God didn’t punish His son for our own sins, as many thought. Christ actually bore the full weight of sin and its consequences upon himself, and he suffered for the transgression of man (Isaiah 53:8b).
This act demonstrated God’s love towards man, that Christ shed his blood for the remission (taking away) of the sins of man. That remission took the punishment for the sin of Adam upon man and opened a portal to God directly. The sacrifice became the price paid for the justification of man before God. That alone brought peace between God and man (Romans 5:1).
We are enjoined to know confidently that redemption from sin was not attained by pleading for mercy from God but by the act of Jesus Christ on the cross. That act opened the door of grace which showed that the act of man becomes futile compared to the act of Christ in the redemption plan of God, see Romans 3:27 and 2nd Corinthians 5:18. So, to remain in the salvation plan of God, walking according to the light bestowed by the redemptive act of Christ is ultimate. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Salvation is gotten through the redemption of God and not the works of man.
CONFESSION: I believe Christ died for me and reconciled me from the wages of sin to the gift of eternal life, I know I am saved in Him, in Jesus’ Name, Amen
QUOTE: God had always set His plan for redemption of mankind, and that is why the blood was made available and the price was paid and man saved from condemnation.
