“Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you, searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow” – 1Peter 1:10-11
LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ’s crucifixion necessitated man’s salvation.
The crucifixion of Christ was necessary for the salvation of man. The word “redeem” means to be saved from sin or to buy out. Therefore, this means that we were saved and bought from sin and its consequence in order to live a better life. Without Christ being crucified, man’s salvation would not have been accomplished. Christ obtained redemption through his death on the cross for us and through this act; believers have a steadfast foundation to rest. Therefore, the believer’s confidence ought not to be shaken.
The one-time death of Christ on the cross completes, fulfills, and satisfies the righteous requirements of the law forever. Paul in Romans 3:24-26 shows us the efficacy of Christ death and resurrection. “Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forebearance of God”. This once for all sacrifice provides us with benefits the law could not give us.
Thus, living a better life is inevitable to every believer who understands his kingdom realities in Christ. Ephesians 1:6-7, “To the praise of the glory of his grace, by which he made us accepted in the beloved. In him, we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of this grace”. The redemption offered us by Christ guarantees our acceptance before God, who now is working all things for our good according to its purpose. Glory!
