LIGHT FOR NOW: Christ is light and he in the believer makes the believer light.
The word “gospel” means goodnews, in the Old Testament; it was called glad tidings which were coded. King Solomon describes it as water that quenches the thirsty soul in proverbs 25:25. “As cold waters to a thirsty soul, So is good news from a far country”.
Jesus is the one that comes from a far country. It is important to note that this is what Jesus preached all through his stay on earth. Matthew 4:23 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogue and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing all manner of diseases”. You can also find that in Matthew 9:35.
This means that this same gospel heals, it moves with miracles also. Shortly before Jesus ascension, he commanded all his disciples and the church to continue to preach and teach this same gospel because this is the cure to man’s problem. Mark 16:15 “And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature”.
The disciples focused on this gospel and they were obedient to the call of the master. They didn’t teach anything outside the gospel. Apostle Paul was so bold about the gospel that he said in Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth, to the Jew first and also to the Greek”. This means that inside the gospel is the power, salvation, healing, and every other thing a believer can think of. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Go into the world and preach the gospel
CONFESSION: Lord, give me the boldness to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth, in Jesus’s Name, Amen.
