“And they bound him with thongs, Paul said unto the centurion that stood by, is it lawful for you to scourge a man, that is a Roman, and uncondemned? When the centurion heard that, he went and told the chief captain saying, take heed what thou doest: for this man is a Roman” – Acts 22:25-26
LIGHT FOR NOW: The authority of a believer lies in the consciousness of who he is in Christ and the kingdom he is operating from.
It is the authority that establishes a kingdom. Every kingdom without an authority is a mere geographical location. Who then should be in custody of an authority? A king or queen who does not know his authority will be reduced to a mere messenger. Therefore, it is only fitting that authority is best handled by those who know its value and can apply it for the good. Apostle Paul during his ministry here on earth knew his identity. As a Roman, he was aware of the level of authority vested on him. Hence, he reminded or brought to the knowledge of the centurion that he (Paul) is a Roman. No Roman should be scourged; not when he is not condemned. If you knew the authority you have in Christ, you would not allow yourself to be harassed by negative circumstances. Don’t be intimidated by what should be afraid of you. Exercise your authority in Christ Jesus. You don’t need to quake at night. If you know who you are in Christ, you will not be afraid of tomorrow. After resurrection, they glorified Jesus, the one who birthed you spiritually, assured all believers; “And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore” (Matthew 28:18-19). May this knowledge embolden you to face challenges and come up victorious. Faith keeps alive, fear kills. Decide now on who you are in Christ Jesus. Glory!
INSTRUCTION: Declare your identity.
CONFESSION: Lord, I glorify you for who I am in you, in Jesus Name. Amen.
QUOTE: Men who practice the knowledge of their identity control the affairs of other men.
