“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shall thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shalt not be afraid of the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, thy habitation.” – Psalm 91:1-9
LIGHT FOR NOW: Being in Christ is being in a zone of safety; safety from whatsoever harm.
At new birth or salvation, the person of Christ who is our saviour became our place, location, and zone. That’s why Paul will say “Therefore if any man be IN CHRIST, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2Corinthians 5:17). Notice that phrase “in Christ”, that phrase is Apostle Paul’s signature. In fact, that phrase “in Christ” is the greatest thing in the epistle; it carries within it the fact of our identification with Christ and the import of what that identification has made out of us. That phrase “In Christ” comes with other associate phrases like:
• In him,
• In whom,
• Through him, etc.
It is within this signature of “in Christ” that unveils the following:
• Who we are in Christ.
• What we have in Christ.
• What Christ can do through you.
It is vital to note that it is in the revelation of who we are in Christ that brings us to a place of knowing what we have in Christ, and in knowing what you have in Christ there is an unveiling of what you can do in Christ or better still, what Christ can do through you. Notice, “in Christ” is the emphasis. And the believer at new birth is in Christ. It thus implies that outside Christ, the believer can not know himself. Christ revealed will equal the believer unveiled. The revelation of Christ will be the unveiling of the believer.
Therefore, if Christ is veiled from the believer, then what avails to the believer by virtue of identification with Christ is veiled from the believer. Also, words spoken concerning Christ in scripture will equally relate to the believer in him by virtue of identification. An example of such words spoken concerning Christ that relates to us in Psalm 91, which we reveal Christ as our safety zone. There is safety in Christ; there is preservation in Christ; there is protection in Christ. Glory!!!
INSTRUCTION: Know who you are in Christ.
CONFESSION: I confess confidently that I am in Christ, which means I am in safety; I am secured, preserved, and protected from all forms of harm, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
QUOTE: You are effective as a believer to the degree to which you understand your realities.
