“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith” Romans 1:16-17
LIGHT FOR NOW: it is not the number of years you have been a Christian that counts but your accurate and precise understanding of the message.
The Gospel is not just for the acquisition of the information but for sharing. It therefore means that upon salvation, every believer’s responsibility is to be fully involved in the sharing of the message. This in itself is the primary assignment given to the local church and everything we do should be to enable us achieve this singular mandate. The local church must be seen intentionally raising men for this purpose. The fact is that where every believer is mobilized alongside the local churches to become fully involved in the sharing of the gospel, then it is certain that more people will get to hear the message and be saved. Interestingly, the message and its method of communication are both given, hence everyone bearing it needs to strictly adhere to the conditions. The word “gospel” in our theme text as translated from the Greek word “euanggelion” which simply means goodnews; that which brings good tidings. Thus the gospel is that which is good to its hearers and recipients; innate in it is the power to affect its hearer(s). The gospel explains what Christ has done in His death, burial and resurrection; what Christ has done which is beneficial to mankind is the good news to us. And one is only qualified to share it only if he is born again.
Soul winning becomes more effective once we fully comprehend the message and who we are and have in Christ. When we have precise and accurate knowledge of the revelation of Christ; it will be easier for us to communicate the gospel without error. It is not experience in Christianity that makes you an effective sharer of the message but your accurate and precise understanding of the message. That’s exactly what took place in Acts 2 where three thousand were saved after Peter’s preaching. He was precise and effective in the communication of the message because Jesus, after His resurrection had spent forty days to speak to them about the kingdom of God (Acts 1:3). The term gospel implies a message and a messenger; and as messengers, we should understand that the message is not that of condemnation for sins. “For God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already.”(John 3: 17-18). The message is one of the reconciliation – God seeking peace with the sinner and not the sinner seeking peace with God, “For the son of man is come to seek and save that which is lost” (Luke 19:10). The truth is that people in your neighborhood, School, organization and family are not saved simply because you haven’t effectually communicated the gospel to them. You should make your life one on a mission for the kingdom by fully devoting your time and resources for the gospel; that’s what will count at the end of your life here on earth.
