“In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, let there be light: and there was light” Genesis 1:1-3.
LIGHT FOR NOW: Any choice of man that exonerates God has an outcome that is man-made.
We have seen that the light of Genesis 1:3 is the tree of life of Genesis 2:16-17 which was God’s offer to man. This is the goodness of God offered to man for man to make a choice of faith or unbelief. God in His goodness warns man of the after effect of a choice that if man makes will result in death (spiritual death which will now birth physical death). But what choice did man make? Let’s see Genesis 3:6 “…she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat”. Man made the choice of unbelief to God’s word. Man rejected God’s offer and plan. Man made a choice independent of God’s offer. Man exonerated God by his choice and because man has exonerated God by his choice, the outcome of that choice is man-made; God is not responsible for the outcome of a choice of man that exonerates His offer and plan. This choice of man and predicament is what Paul explains in Romans 5 as sin by sin…” So Paul calls that choice of man in Eden sin which brought death or in which death is found. Remember death was found in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In other words, the tree of knowledge of good and evil was figurative of sin as Paul has unbundled in the above for us as death is found in sin. That choice of unbelief to God’s offer of life (eternal life/life as a tree in Eden) is what Moses was communicating as the tree of knowledge of good and evil where death is found. We can now call the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 2:16-17) the darkness of Genesis 1:2a, how?
Death is found in the darkness, and similarly death is found in the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In the midst of man’s choice of unbelief to God’s word, have you seen what the goodness of God is there? We will see that in the next study. However, we can now deduce that whatever happens in a choice of man that exonerates God is man-made, then we can track the origin of sin. The origin of sin is man; that is, man’s desires or choice is where sin could be tracked. Sin thus, is not a creation of God but creation of man. Sin and death therefore, was the predicament of man’s choice; sin and death was/is not God’s punishment for man’s unbelief, sin and death is the outcome of man’s choice. Hallelujah!
