KNOWING YOURSELF IN CHRIST (9)

I thank my God, making mention of thee in my prayers, hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast towards the Lord Jesus, and towards all the saints; that the communication of your faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus – Philemon 1:4

LIGHT FOR NOW: Any definition of yourself outside the word is a false definition of yourself.

In the course of this study, we have established that to know Christ you must read the bible. More so, for the believer to be known, then Christ must be known because the believer is in Christ. Since Christ is known in the written word, then the believer in Christ will be known in the same. The word of God to us is all of God’s revelation to us; all of the revelation of Christ to us and all that reveals ourselves to us. Many folks are caught up in the trap of trying to know Jesus from external biblical materials. That’s a dangerous trap. God has given you 66 books in one book and you are not contented with it?  Are these 66 books are not enough for you such that you want an extra material?  If you ask most of those folks, how many of the books among the sixty six books in the bible they have read well and understood, you would discover that they’ve not even read one among the 66 books in its entirety and understood. God has given you 66 books and you are not satisfied, you have not even finished reading the 66 books but you are looking for something extra. You are looking for the books that were not included among the canon of scriptures; you are looking out for the seven books of Moses; you are looking out for the books that were not included among the 66 books? If I may ask, what is your motive for such a search? Is it that you want to sound deeper than the 66 books God had given to you? Don’t embark on such search. Reading the books that were not included in the 66 books is not healthy for you. Consequently, knowledge acquired from such books is not healthy as well. If you start looking for such knowledge; before you know it, you will start questioning the authenticity of the 66 books that God has given to you. Outside the bible, there is no other book referred to as “Holy Scriptures”; that is, sacred or set apart writings. The bible is the only sacred or set apart material that reveals God to you; reveals Jesus to you; and reveals you to yourself. External biblical materials are of zero percent importance where the revelation of God in Christ and the believer in Christ is concerned. So my identity in Christ will not be known in external biblical materials, but it will be known in Christ in the understanding of the 66 books of the bible God has given to me. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Stay with the 66 books you have, it is enough for you.

PRAYER: Father, I declare that the desire to know your word communicated to me in these 66 books called the bible grows in me like never before, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

QUOTE: The message of the written word (the bible) is the living word (Jesus Christ).
