IDENTITY DISCOVERY; THE CURE TO IDENTITY CRISIS (13)

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, – Ephesians 1:15-19

LIGHT FOR NOW: You can’t know the living word (Christ) outside studying the written word (the bible).

In the course of this studies, we came to observe that the word “word” as Peter used in 1Peter 1:25 is different from the word “word” he used in verse 23. In verse 23, the word “word” (used twice) is from the Greek word “rhema” which refers to the prophets’ utterances. While the word “word” used in verse 23 in the Greek word “logos” which refers to the intent, idea, plan, reason, concept, message or subject matter. This word “logos” is in reference to the person of Jesus who is God’s reasoning capacity and the reason behind the scriptures. What qualified the “rhema” of the prophets to be called the word of God were the words they spoke concerning the “logos” of God or the “logos” of the scriptures. In other words, the Christ centered utterances of the prophets were the words that came from God. So, the question, is everything in the written word “words” that came from God? No; how will I know words documented in the written word that did not come from God? I will fix my eyes on the living word (Jesus) that is the message of the written word to know what in the written word came from God and what did not come from God.

Next set of questions; between the written word (the bible) and the living word (Jesus), which one will I use to check the correctness of the other? The living word (the person of Jesus); because the living word is the logic of the written word or the reason for the written word is the living word or the written word points or testifies of the living word. So more accurately, is the word (logos) of God paper and ink (a book; a bible) or a person? It’s a person; but does that invalidate the writing? No, because you can’t know the person without the writing; it will take the reading of the written word to come to the revelation of the living word. So, the bible is God’s word documented, that is, the written word and the message of this written word is the living word (the person of Jesus). So to clear the air on this, both the person and the book are God’s word but one (the person, the living word) is the reason for the other (the bible; the written word). Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: You must be dutiful in study.

PRAYER: The eyes of my understanding are enlightened, in Jesus name, Amen.

QUOTE: Bibliology (the study of the bible) is Christology (the study of Christ).
