IDENTITY DISCOVERY; THE CURE TO IDENTITY CRISIS (7)

Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints, Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power, – Ephesians 1:15-19

LIGHT FOR NOW: The man born of God is born of incorruptible seed which is the word of God that liveth and abideth forever.

In our previous studies, we established that the born again man is not born of incorruptible seed nor of a mortal origin (seed, sperm) but of an origin that is immortal or incorruptible. In other words, his birth is not natural nor is it a function of a natural procreation or natural generation, but his birth is a supernatural birth. So the question that comes to the fore which will be carefully handled from this point into proceeding days in our studies before we get back to the issue of generational problems is what could be this supernatural birth? Observe 1Peter 1:23 carefully for the answer; “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever”. So what is this supernatural birth? The born again man is born of incorruptible seed which is what he explains as the word of God which liveth and abideth forever. Notice, he says “by the word of God…” So the big question that now comes to the fore which we will carefully investigate is what is this word of God that lives and abides forever? What could Apostle Peter refer to by using the term “word” or “word of God”? Could he have been referring to the bible (that is, the written word)? Or could he have been referring to the living word (that is, the person of Jesus)? If he was referring to the bible as the word of God, let’s now fix the word “bible” in place of the word “the word of God” and see how it will sound; it reads, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the bible, which lives and abides forever”. How does it sound? Keep how it sounds to yourself for now until we’ve examined the word “word” used in this context grammatically and its corroboration in the New Testament; and moreover understand the difference between the written word and the living word. Also, if the use of the term “word of God” here is in reference to the living word (the person of Jesus) even backed up by the fact that he says “which lives and abides forever”, then let’s apply substitution by elimination (that is, replace the term “word of God” with the person of Jesus) and hear how it sounds, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by Jesus who lives and abides forever”; how does it sound? Still keep how it sounds to you until we are done investigating properly. So other questions in the line of this thought is; is the bible the word of God or is Jesus the word of God? Or are they both the word of God? If there is a difference between the two, what could the difference be? Between the two, which one points to the other? And between the two, which one is the reason for the other? So don’t be in a hurry and run to conclusions, study patiently. Hallelujah!

INSTRUCTION: Bible study cannot be done in a rush of blood; so be patient.

PRAYER: Thank you Lord for the revelation of your word that is growing big on my inside, in Jesus Name.  Amen.

QUOTE: When you are looking for understanding in a hurry, you will land in a misunderstanding.
