UNDERSTANDING THE FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST

“Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints” – Colossians 1:26

LIGHT FOR NOW: At new birth, our nature was changed.

  Apostle Paul took time to explain the divine mystery that makes a new man in Christ a superman. But it takes a precise and accurate knowledge of what Christ did in the life of the believer for the believer in Christ to live in this superman status. This is why all of Pauline prayers for the church were for the knowledge. In Ephesians 1:18, he says, “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints”.  It is by Apostle Paul that believers in Christ come to the understanding of what Christ did for us at new birth. John 3:6 says, “That is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”. This shows that at new birth, our nature was completely changed. We are now spirit-beings and a mystery to the world. We have become unpredictable. Just as the wind blows and nobody can predict where it is coming from nor where it is going, a believer in Christ is unpredictable, cannot be limited, hindered or truncated. We are unstoppable.

At new birth, we are now partakers of the heavenly calling. Hebrews 3:1 says, “Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the holy calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus”. This means we are now shareholders and partakers of God’s glory. All that is in Christ is now taking residence in us. The nature of God is at work in us. As He is, so are we in this world. John 17:22 says, “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one”. Therefore, we are joint-heirs with Christ. We are entitled to enjoy all the privileges of joint heirs. We have been given the power to become sons of God. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”. You are now a son of God and entitled to enjoy all the rights and benefits of sonship. Walk in your new identity.

INSTRUCTION: Walk in the knowledge of what Christ has done in you.

PRAYER: Lord, I thank you for making me a partaker of your glory, in Jesus Name!
